Todd Snider
I had the pleasure of seeing Todd Snider at The Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria, Virginia. I was completely entertained. He is a true storyteller. In every sense of the word. It’s folk music of today’s generation, but with the respectful nod to the folk music of the ‘60s generation, which in my opinion, a lot of today’s music wouldn't exist with out it. Not only the style of music, but the subject matter in the lyrics. As far as political and social issues go, Todd touches on some of this stuff, but it’s done in such a way that's not preachy. His songs are funny. Not like joke funny, but smart funny. Even his more serious songs have at least one funny line in it. He says, "I will be expressing my opinions not because I think they are important but because they rhyme" or something of that nature. He's had success with the press. I've never read a bad review. Rolling Stone Magazine loves him. The Washington Post said he's the most likeable artist in music. What's not to like? I guess if you were a conservative Christian, right wing Republican, straight white American male, you may take some offense. Have you ever heard me play that song before? It’s his. He will play a 3 minute song and just before the last chorus, he will tell a 15 minute story and then tie it all together with the last chorus. Real life situations are where he shines. He admits that not all songs are completely true, but most are. With today’s music leaning heavy toward technology, it was truly refreshing to be completely enthralled and hanging on to every word of a dude with a guitar.

Saw him 5 times and each show gets better. Witty, funny and he knows his fans. He is like John Prine, Jimmy Buffett, Jerry Jeff Walker
and Arlo Guthrie all sharing the same steriod needle!

Anyone that can bring lightness & levity in these times deserves a nod. Todd is now on my radar. Any comparison to Chuck Brodsky?
Todd Snider
He is not only a great musician but a good guy as well. He lives across the street from my brother and always goes around the whole neighborhood singing Christmas Carols on Christmas Eve. Imagine my surprise to open the door one year and see Todd Snider singing "Silent Night". Pretty memorable Christmas.
Good review of a true American treasure.

Todd is the real deal, no
Todd is the real deal, no lie. I just saw him in Texas do a run with Vince Herman and Great American Taxi, where they backed him as a band. Great stuff.
